Vuvuzela now in Oxford English Dictionary
by Zenith Tarmac on 19 August, 2010 - 06:39
Love the plastic “Horn of Africa” or hate it but it has made its way into the Oxford English Dictionary. The Vuvuzela came to worldwide attention during the football World Cup in South Africa.
The Vuvuzela entry into the Oxford Dictionary of English is due to be published Thursday.
The Oxford dictionary is based on how language is really used. Its definition for the horn is a ‘long plastic instrument in the shape of a trumpet; that makes a very loud noise when you blow it and is popular with football fans in South Africa”.
Yes we know, we hear them loud and clear.
